To much interrogation
The Senate Intelligence Committee realeased a report about the extent of interrogation used to get information about the whereabouts of Bin Laden. It put down serveral accusations that they were to "extreme" but did not dispprove things such as waterboarding a close assest to Bin Laden 183 times to find out about a courier. Yes this can get a little extremely but if it's something like finding Bin Laden, then as long as its not extremely inhuman it should be ok since most of it doesn't kill the suspect. Known but untouchable
Alois Brunner was able to avoid being captured by Nazi-Hunters for over sixty years. The opinion of most of the Nazi-Hunters was that he was one of the worst to ever exist since he had sent thousands if not millions to death camps. After avoiding capture after the fall of the Third Reich, he was able to travel to Damascus, Syria and remained there for the remainder of his life. He lived under a alias but that didn't stop organizations such as Mossad from sending hidden explosives to his house. He reportedly died about four years ago but his burial site has been unseen due to the civil war in Syria. This is really just said since they knew it was him and they still couldn't get him. The fact that none of these groups that were trying to get him could get him, even though they knew where he was, is extremely sad. If Mossad of all groups couldn't do it when he's right next door, then how bad did they really want to punish him then. Brithright citizenship... thing of the past
Now that the GOP has the majority in the House, some believe that they can now use that to crack down on immigration. The biggest problem with this is that people are coming into the country just to give birth. This makes the children born on U.S soil citizens and in essence their parents who can live and work here now because of it. This birthright citizenship can be repealled a bit to help with illegal immagration. Link:http://mediamatters.org/video/2014/11/17/ingraham-urges-gop-to-enforce-immigration-laws/201587
This is a bit of a large if not unnessacary step to take. The birthright citizenship is in the 14th amendment which was ratified to make it so that all slaves in the country after the civil war would become citizens on the federal and state level. Trying to repeal it to restrict immagration is not what it was intended for originally. It was meant to give people who had been born in the country to become citizens so that they could exercise the same rights that every one else in the country could.

New Majority in the Senate
As of November fourth, the United States Senate is now in the favor of the Republican party. Republicans now have gained the six plus one seat they needed to have the majority rule in the Senate. The numbers now stand a 52 Republican and 43 Democrat and 2 Independent. This will allow the party to get what they want through a little more easily.
I find this very good because the past situation with the Senate was not very pleasing with some of the people in the country. I myself am enjoying that the Senate and House is now a Majority Republican, which I myself am. Link: http://www.politico.com/2014-election/results/map/senate/

I mustache let you know my secret to success
Iowan Governor Terry Branstad credits the fact every time he has won the election he has had a mustache, so he is going to keep it. It seems to be working since he is up for his sixth re-election and if re-elected he will have held an executive office the longest of anyone in U.S. History. The reporter who did this was given a private tour of all of the governor's personal things from his time in the office. The reporter asks him about his opinion on candidates that he would support. He didn't mention any accept that he would favor the Republicans( no surprise). I found this article rather interesting since he credited his mustache to his success. I also would find it really cool if he would be re-elected because that would be a good historical event in our lives for a change. Another unfortunate repeat in American history
Riot police reminded protesters of the Vonderrit Myers Jr. shooting that they will show up if they get out of hand early Monday morning. The most the riot police did was beat their batons in unison on the ground and let them pass. Throughout the entire time, the protesters sang of chants towards the police officer that shot the black teen last week. The father of the teen was with the crowd. Police arrested seventeen protesters that were doing a sit in at the convenience store he was killed at. This along with a shooting in Florida have brought international attention to race relations in the U.S.
The first thing I have to say about this is WOW. I mean seriously, how long and how many will have to die for this thing we "settled" with the civil war and civil rights movement with MLK Jr. If police are actually suspected of shooting someone on race, then hold a investigation and look into it. Where they threatened or did they pull out a gun and just start shooting. From what I have heard, I have no idea if there was any footage on the shooting from the store cameras. The main point I'm getting at here is that people need to get the facts strait before calling it a racist crime.

U.S cracking down on Ebola sccreening
The United States government has began to screen every passenger that comes from "infected" countries. Although that number is only around 150 people, it still is a precaution to help keep it from spreading to the U.S anymore than the one case that has been confirmed on U.S soil. I think that this is a good idea, but they should be also cautious of other countries that it may have spread to, which could be any so that may be a little difficult.

LA-area mayor gets bad end of domestic dipsute
The mayor of LA-area was shot at 2:30 p.m. by his wife at their home on September 30. He and his wfie were arguing when their son came inbetween the two and while the son and fatherr argued, the wife/ mother went and grabbed a gun and shot her husband several times. She and her son were released on October 1 in the morning. The mayor was well respected and helped others with their problems. This is honestly really sad because according to the article there was nothing said that could have escalated it to one of the two getting a gun. That just shows that their is absolutley no need for the domestic violence at all. link http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/la-area-mayor-fatally-shot-by-wife-in-domestic-dispute/ar-BB6Gtbr

Vatican checking itself
The Vatican put a Dominican Republic envoy, Wesolowski, under house arrest after being accused of sexually abusing young boys in the Caribbean region. His punishment was one of the harshest the Catholic Church can give: laicization, returning to a life of a layman. He know is in the small police barracks jail of the Vatican. Associated Press. This is said to hear about because the Church has tried extremely hard to get rid of this in its midst. This could affect how people look at the Church after hearing about it from someone in a high position. I think that he is getting off a little easy, I think that he should be criminally charged for what he did.

C-Span bus rolls into town, but journalist's twist student's response
This first blog is in response to the Rapid City Journal article on the STM students response to the C-Span coming into town. I believe that the journalist took to many things and twisted it or jokes a little to seriously. As a member of the AP Government class, it isn't a representation of any of the fifteen we have in the class. If anything the article would have been a entire paper and then some if they would listen to some of our classes where we either interpret and discuss parts of the government or argue about political views. Two years ago we had a very large discussion in the school about the election on things like the platforms the candidates had. Most of are now at or near voting age, regardless we will all be able to vote this next Presidential election and I believe all of us will. I would just like to let anyone who reads this to know if you believe this article to be true, you are more than welcome to come during C period AP Gov. to discuss with us about the government we have no interest in.
